Activistas Support MOTHERS Act

Thank you Activistas in Oregon for writing about the online petition supporting the Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act for postpartum depression!

This is also a good post and interesting discussion of meds vs. no meds from The World As Reesie Sees It.

Hello.

I recently stumbled across the MOTHERS Act and after perusing it carefully, I saw NO MENTION of psychiatric drugs on expectant mothers. It's tragic to read the story of Andrea Yates and to think about the mothers who misdiagnosed or improperly medicated. However, as stated, medication of mental illness is a process that takes time and effort. I applaud the efforts of all the women here (and I'm sure there are more than a few men) to make known the devastating effects PPD has on families and the community.

Actually, I'm posting in regards to a deep concern. It's in regards to Amy Philo and her website, Unite for Life. Ms. Philo, as I understand, is strongly against this bill because of the aforementioned claim that it will force moms-to-be to take perscription drugs.

Looking all the way down near the bottom of the home page, a discovery made my blood chill...

'...If you or someone you know has suffered side effects from stimulant medications, please contact Lauren DeWitt, Medical Director at CCHR at 800-572-2905. CCHR is currently working on a project and looking for people who have suffered because of the ADHD drugs. Or email her at laurenpharm@aol.com - she is happy to answer questions about the drugs if you have them...'

The thing that jumped out at me is the contact info for the CCHR- the Citizens Commission for Human Rights. It is one of many front groups affiliated with the Church of Scientology.

This is something everyone here needs to be worried about. The Church of Scientology has in recent months been pushed into the spotlight for numerous crimes and abuses that are only now being made public knowledge.

The following link leads to the online journal of Bruce Wagner, an online personality and journalist.

I know quite a few of you possibly believe I'm some sort of crazy conspiracy theorist. But I assure you, what follows in the link are REAL, DOCUMENTED articles, interviews and testimonies to this criminal cult. This matters because as can be proven by Ms. Philo's own webpage, she has for all rights and proposes, affiliated herself with the COS.

I'm afraid Ms. Philo is nothing more than a pawn to the COS. They care nothing for her or the women who follow and trust in her. She is being used to push the agenda of this highly secretive and dangerous group. I ask all who read this- EDUCATE YOURSELF. This is all the more reason the MOTHERS Act needs to pass. I'm genuinely fearful for the safety and well-being of every woman who believes in Ms. Philo.
